Hello blog readers! Yes, it is time for me to shill my latest book. But let’s face it, the only reason you are here is probably that you’ve read my other books. So thanks for supporting me and my diet soda addiction! I truly appreciate all the support you’ve given over the years. I hope to be at the keyboard for many more years to come. For the next few years, I’ll probably be writing about ancient Rome. This brings me back to the topic at hand! Go get my latest book on Amazon.com. It’s on US and UK, plus all their other international sites.
Now that’s a book cover! Our heroes are once more in deep trouble and have to face up to some of their past with dire consequences for their futures. I won’t say more, since I don’t want to spoil things.
The series is moving toward its midpoint now. I’ve considered getting it to twenty books. It feels like a lot, particularly since this is set in a relatively “slow period” of Roman history (at least compared to all that just happened and all that’s coming up in the next century). Still, ancient Rome is a fertile bed of story ideas. I can see our heroes getting into some interesting entanglements over their lives.
So, it’ll be many years before I have to think of another series. I’ve given some thoughts to what that might be, but I’d have to see how I feel at that time. If you have anything you’d want to see someday (as in — years from now. I’ve got to finish this series first), then please drop me a note.
Anyway, go buy my book! Thank you for your support!
This is such an excellent series, thank you for writing it. Your combo of story-telling with actual history is amazing & I especially like that you’re in this period, as there’s not much else out there from it.
Enough with the pleasantries – how’s the next book coming along?
Thanks for the encouragement and I’m glad you are enjoying the series! I’m just coming off a short break in writing to begin the next book. It takes a few months to get one written and then ready for publication. But that’s it for vacations this year!
I have read all of the series except number 10 which I hope to acquire soon. The adventures throughout the book have been innovative and sure to cause a fever of page turning.
However you really do need some proof readers. I’ve had a few moments with the English language. Things shine, they may have shone, they might even be shining, but ‘shined’ and its regular repetition does have me dreading its very reappearance. Having been through a rugged and injury full Police service in my young days, by volume nine I am doubting the ability to absorb too many more injuries of the severity the characters seem to endure in every volume. The recovery time from severe concussion can be lengthy and with each additional one gets even harder to find a way out of. At 79 I am still prone to the effects. I sometimes wonder at the mush that Varro must have in his head!
Despite these fears of mine, the books are an excellent series.
Thanks Malcolm! I appreciate your feedback and thanks for reading!
Thank you for your comments, Malcom. I do beat up my characters, perhaps too harshly. As for shined vs shone, it’s a conflict of US vs UK English. I realize my Americanisms sometime drive my UK readers mad! Apologies! But than you for your support!
I just finished Exiles and it was a terrific read. I do have to ask, is it my imagination or are there some echoes of Apocalypse Now? Looking forward to the next book. Thanks
That’s right! I enjoyed that movie and loved reading The Heart of Darkness back in my college days. So I definitely paid tribute to many of the ideas from those stories. I wondered if anyone would notice. So thanks for commenting, and thanks for reading!
“Oh the horror”. Great homage. Very much enjoying your series. Great characters, exciting plots, what’s not to like!
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying the series. Your comment is timely, too. I needed a lift to get restarted after a break that went a bit too long!
